Error message · Site builders: Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, Weebly, GoDaddy Website Builder, Carrd

“This site hasn't been published yet”

Your domain reaches the site builder's servers, but the builder has nothing to show for it: either the site was never published (or was unpublished), or the domain isn't connected to a site in the builder's settings. The builder serves its own placeholder page in your site's place. Everything you built is still in the editor; visitors just can't see it.

Is your site showing it right now?

The free scan loads your page like a visitor and checks for this message, plus broken links, script errors and phone layout. It also walks your signup, booking or contact form, without sending anything.

Free, no signup. Usually done in about a minute.

Why it happens

  • The site was built and saved but never published, or someone clicked Unpublish
  • The plan or subscription that allowed a custom domain lapsed, so the builder disconnected the domain
  • The domain was pointed at the builder in DNS but never connected to the site inside the builder's dashboard
  • The site was moved to a new account or a new site was started, and the domain still points at the old one
  • A free trial ended before the site was published

How to fix it

  1. Open the editor and publish

Sign in to the builder, open the site and click Publish (Wix, Squarespace and Webflow all have the button top right). If it says the site is already published, the problem is the domain connection, not publishing.

  2. Check the subscription

In billing or plan settings, make sure the plan is active and includes a custom domain. A lapsed plan drops the site to the free placeholder, and renewing it brings the site back within minutes.

  3. Connect the domain inside the builder

In the dashboard's Domains section, make sure your domain is listed and connected to this site, not to another site in your account. If it says "pending" or "not connected", follow the builder's connection steps; they'll tell you exactly which DNS records to set.

  4. Verify the DNS records

Compare your domain's A or CNAME records with what the builder asks for. If a record points at the builder but the builder doesn't recognise the domain, you'll see this page until both sides match. DNS changes can take up to a day to spread.

  5. Confirm from outside

Load the site in a private window or on your phone's mobile data once you've published: the editor's preview is not what visitors see. The free scan above checks the live page the way a visitor loads it.

Questions

Is my site deleted?

No. The placeholder means the builder isn't serving a site for this domain. Your pages are still in the editor under your account; if you can't find them, check whether you have more than one site or account.

Why does the builder's own URL work but my domain doesn't?

The site is published, but the domain isn't connected to it. Fix the domain in the builder's Domains settings and check the DNS records it asks for.

How long after publishing does it show?

Usually a minute or two. If you've just changed DNS records, allow up to 24 hours, and clear your browser's cache before checking again.

Can Page Canary tell me if this comes back?

Yes. Page Canary checks your key pages every day for this message and others like it, confirms it on a second check, and emails you with the fix. One site is free.
