“Sorry, this store is currently unavailable.”
Shopify is showing this instead of your shop, which means it isn't serving the store at all: no products, no checkout. It's almost always about the store's plan or billing, not your theme.
Is your site showing it right now?
The free scan loads your page like a visitor and checks for this message, plus broken links, script errors and phone layout. It also walks your signup, booking or contact form, without sending anything.
Free, no signup. Usually done in about a minute. Why it happens
- An unpaid Shopify bill (an expired card is the common reason), so the store was frozen
- The store is on a paused plan, or its free trial ended without a plan being picked
- The store was closed, and the domain still points at it
How to fix it
Log in and check billing
In the Shopify admin, open Settings, Billing. Pay any outstanding bill and update the payment method; a frozen store usually reopens as soon as it's paid.
Pick or resume a plan
If the trial ended or the store is paused, choose a plan under Settings, Plan. A paused store needs to be resumed before it sells again.
Check the domain
Under Settings, Domains, make sure the domain is connected to this store and set as primary. If you moved to a new store, connect the domain there.
Ask Shopify support
If billing and plan look fine, Shopify support can see why the store is unavailable, for example a review of the account.
Questions
Is the password page the same thing?
No. A password page ("Enter using password") means the store is up but locked, usually before launch. Remove it under Online Store, Preferences.
Are my products and orders still there?
Yes. A frozen store keeps its products, customers and orders; they come back when the store reopens.
Can Page Canary tell me if this comes back?
Yes. Page Canary checks your key pages every day for this message and others like it, confirms it on a second check, and emails you with the fix. One site is free.
